framing nailer

Question:
what is the use or difference from the clipped nails and the round nails on the snap on framing nailer?
Answer:

Hello Gary-Very good question and I'm glad you asked.

First, Clipped Head Nails are straight nails that have the top bent over and flattened to provide a partial head.  These are inexpensive nails that do not have the holding power in lumber construction and in most all cases, do not meet building code requirements due to the smaller head surface.

Second style bring the Round Head Nails that have larger heads providing the necessary lumber construction holding power required to be acceptable and meet all lumber construction building codes. During construction inspection, the inferior nails stand out like a sore thumb.

Thanks for asking,

Carl
