To remove the chuck, do I turn the screw that secures it CCW or CW?

Question:

Reference my 21.6V cordless drill, model 691220. To remove the chuck, do I turn the screw that secures it CCW or CW? The screw is really tight, I just want to be sure I turn it in the right direction.

Answer:

Hello Jas,
The chuck screw has left hand thread and they're very hard to remove. During manufacture, the threads have a seize compound applied to stop loosening under usage vibration. Be careful not to strip the screwdriver head cavity or you'll never get the screw out.

Thanks for asking,

Carl
