What blade would be best for cutting aluminum, mostly in thicknesses of 0.025" to 1/8"?

Question:

I recently bought a Kawasaki Model #691257 9" band saw having 59 1/2" blade length. I need to cut aluminum, mostly in thicknesses of 0.025" to 1/8". What blade would be best for this and where do I go to get it?

Answer:

Hello Ed,
You may have a hard time finding a blade to cut metal but what you'll need is a blade with 32 teeth per inch. There are companies that are called “converters” and what they have are long lengths of blade and all they do is cut and weld to your specs. You could get by with a 24 teeth per inch but I would opt for the 32 teeth variety. You could call Olson Saw Blade Company back east or, try a local converter. Setup your saw properly and make sure that you allow the blade to do the cutting, trying to not use too much pressure against the blade. Good luck.

Thanks for asking,

Carl
