Removing the chuck from the Kawasaki 19.2V cordless drill?

Question:

I want to remove the chuck from a Kawasaki 19.2V cordless drill. I removed the chuck screw, but now what do I do to get the chuck off? Thanks.

Answer:

Hello Chris,
Now that the screw is out, take a 16d nail and bend it midway down the shaft into a right 90 degree. Place the sharp end into the chuck and tighten it real good. With the chuck pointed away from you and the nail sticking out to the right side of the chuck (level with the ground), rap it hard straight down with a hammer handle. This should loosen the chuck for removal. Replace the chuck in the reverse manner and then replace the screw. Don't forget the threads of the screw if a left hand thread and insertion should be as though you would unscrew a screw.

Thanks for asking,

Carl
