What rotary burr or bit should I use to remove old grout?

Question:

Carl-- I have the Alltrade rotary tool set (#481451) with 3/32" and 1/8" shanks. I need to remove old grout around my tub and shower. What burr or bit should I use? Is there a grout removal kit? Thanks!

Answer:

Hello Lynn,
You can use any of the burrs that will fit the spacing between the tiles but be careful that the burr you’re using isn't too large a diameter that may have a tendency to chip the tile edges. To answer your query about a grout accessory, we do not manufacture this. Just use care in the removal process and if you’re going to re-grout, it isn't necessary to remove all the grout down to the bottom. Only half way down would be sufficient.

Thanks for asking,

Carl
