648604 Upper Control Arm Bushing Service Kit (Kit 25) torque specs

Question:

Hi, I had the screw cap part fail on my very first use of 648604 Upper Control Arm Bushing Service Kit (Kit 25), and I didn't even approach the 90ft-lbs that my torque wrench was set to. I had good customer service response from Nancy Carranza to my email with pictures, who said it has a lifetime warranty and that I'll receive a replacement part in 7-10 business days. She didn't answer my questions though, which are as follows: - What is the maximum torque specified for this tool? - Or is it able to handle whatever torque is required to pop an old bushing? - Can I use an impact wrench? I haven’t been able to find any information online about bushing press tool limitations. Call me gun shy, but I just don’t want to get in the same situation where I’ve invested a bunch of time to get all set up to use the tool, only to have another screw cap (or something) fail. Thanks, Ryan

Answer:

I was finally able to provide some information via my email.

Thanks for asking,

Carl
