Ability to witshand pressure

Question:

Hello, I have owned coil spring compressor number 648627 for some time now, but since I have been using it more latterly my biggest concern is the thickness of the bolts and ability of the tool to withstand the load. A death or injury could result in case one of the two compressors fail (bolt snaps), as both of the bolts get slightly bent as I compress springs. Is this something I should be concerned about? Is there a different tool that is designed to withstand the load? The vehicles in questions are just regular mid size cars. Thanks You.

Answer:

When properly used the compressor bolts are more than strong enough for your application.  However, your information leads our engineer to believe that the spacing is incorrect as it should be 180 degrees apart causing the coil spring to bend.  Also the coil should only be compressed enough to rotate slightly.

If you are using this for struts we recommend that you use our one piece strut spring compressor.  Please let me know if this information helps.

Thanks for asking,

Carl
