Kawasaki 80 amp -106 mig welder

Question:

Carl , cannot get wire speed fast enough when welding 1/8 steel. is there a way to get more speed ? or will changing from the .030 wire to .035 help or solve problem ? not sure machine accepts this..Bill

Answer:

As I said in my email to you, your MIG welder is designed for welding lightweight carbon steel.  Stainless steel should be welded with a TIG welder using stainless steel wire coupled with an argon gas mixture.  Your welder, which is designed for the do-it-yourselfer, is not a commercial unit and is not capable of welding stainless steel.

Thanks for asking,

Carl
