AC model 480768

Question:

AC get to about 20lbs of pressure and keeps running with no more pressure gain. Seems to have a lot of air coming out of the oil fill breather plug. ? Bad rings? Also, spring valve at top of unloader tube seem to be leaking. I checked the rings and they seem to tight. Reed valve is also good. Could you suggest problem parts needed? The spring valve at the top of the unloader tube is not listed in the parts diagram in the manual. Thanks Keith Wiersum 1710 Sleepy Hollow Southlake, TX 76092

Answer:

Please remove the reed valve and turn it over as sometimes reed valves do not position properly.  Then there is a copper tube running from the pressure regulator to the tank where it enters a brass valve.  This valve has a spring-loaded orifice that has become clogged with some contaminant.  Remove the valve and clear any obstruction, then reinstall.  This should cure your problem.  Please advise if you have any further problems.

Thanks for asking,

Carl
