My 19.2v Kawasaki drill no longer will hold a tool with less than .25" diameter?

Question:

I have a 19.2v Kawasaki drill and it no longer will hold a tool with less than .25" diameter. It appears that the 3 prongs are jamming when I try to reduce the opening. What can be done, short of a new drill or chuck assembly?

Answer:

Hello Gordon,
I think your problem is with the screw that holds the chuck onto the output shaft. That screw is a left hand thread and probably has loosened some. Use a Philips shafy screwdriver to tighten it and I think that'll solve your problem. If not, please get back to me.

Thanks for asking,

Carl
